FAQs

Have Questions? We’ve Got Answers!

Whether you're new to fishing or a seasoned angler, our FAQs cover everything you need to know before your trip. From what's included to what to bring, we make it easy to plan a stress-free, fun-filled adventure.

Liability Disclaimer (Ugh we know)

All participants must acknowledge, sign a waiver and accept the risks associated with outdoor activities. We prioritize safety at all times, but Myrtle Beach Fishing Company is not liable for any personal injury, lost items, or unforeseen incidents during your trip.

  • What is On-Shore Freshwater Fishing?

No Boats! No sickness! More fun and safety! Our camps are all done from the shoreline of some of the areas best lakes, rivers and ponds! Fish are plenyful and big!

  • What age group is the camp for?

The camp is designed for kids ages 8 to 17, with activities and instruction tailored to each age group.

  • Do kids need to bring their own fishing gear?

Nope! We provide all rods, reels, bait, and tackle. Just pack sunscreen, a water bottle, and a snack.

  • Is the camp safe for beginners?

Absolutely! Our guides are trained to work with kids of all experience levels in a safe, supportive environment.

  • What if it rains?

We fish rain or shine, as the old saying goes, "the two best times to fish are when it's raining and when it isn't." Unless of course, conditions are deemed too unsafe. If we need to cancel a day, we’ll communicate early and provide a makeup option if possible.

  • What about Allergies?

Great question! We use all synthetic lures and baits as to not harm our fish. Your angler will not be touching raw or live baith unless it's a worm. And we are always there to help bait a hook for them if necessary!

Alex Tarwater, Lead Angler
Teacher, Traveler, Outdoor Lover, Nature Appreciator

Alex has been hooked on fishing for as long as he can remember. Whether it was “bream popping” from a canoe with his dad paddling behind or casting lines into quiet ponds with his grandparents, some of his best childhood memories were made with a fishing pole in hand. “Fishing and camping weren’t just fun—they taught me life lessons and shaped who I am,” Alex shares.

Now a middle school social studies teacher with over a decade of experience, Alex brings that same passion for teaching into every cast and catch at camp. For him, fishing isn’t just about catching fish—it’s about building confidence, patience, respect for nature, and friendships that last beyond the shoreline.

Being a fishing instructor is truly a dream come true,” he says. “My goal this week? To help your child make memories they’ll never forget and to send them home loving fishing as much as I do!”
