🌿 Spring Break Just Got Wild: Introducing Our River Island Fishing & Outdoor Skills Camp (Ages 10–17)

If you’ve been looking for a way to get your kids off the screens and into something truly unforgettable this Spring Break, we’ve got something special lined up. This April, Myrtle Beach Fishing Company is launching a brand-new experience: a 4-day island adventure camp on a private stretch of the Waccamaw River — and it’s unlike anything else in the Grand Strand.

This isn’t your standard day camp. It’s a mix of boat fishing, land-based fishing, wilderness skills, wildlife encounters, and pure outdoor adrenaline, all taking place on a 48-acre private island only accessible by boat. And yes — campers get that boat ride every single morning.

🌴 A Private Island Designed for Adventure

Just minutes from North Myrtle Beach sits River Island Adventures, a hidden gem with calm river channels, sandy landings, shaded trails, and wildlife everywhere you look. It’s the perfect outdoor classroom, and for four days, it becomes home base for our campers.

Every morning starts the same way: drop-off at the river landing, a quick safety check, and a short guided boat ride across the Waccamaw to the island. Once they arrive, the world slows down, screens disappear, and nature takes over.

🎣 What Kids Will Do: Water, Land & Wilderness

Campers are grouped into three color teams and rotate through daily stations — each one packed with hands-on learning and excitement.

On-Water Fishing

Small-group boat trips give campers a chance to drift, cast, and fish river current safely under the guidance of licensed captains. The Waccamaw is loaded with fish like bass, bowfin, gar, catfish, and sunfish, so there’s rarely a dull moment.

On-Land Fishing Skills

Back on shore, campers sharpen casting technique, learn different rigs, practice knot tying, identify species, and understand how river structure affects where fish hide.

Wilderness & Survival Training

From fire-building and shelter setup to navigation, water filtering, and wildlife/plant ID, campers learn practical outdoor skills they’ll carry with them forever.

And because the island sits in the heart of Lowcountry wilderness, they’ll encounter turtles, osprey, herons, deer, and countless native plants along the way.

⚓ A Safe, Structured, Supervised Experience

This camp is fully guided and designed with safety at the forefront.

  • Licensed captains run every boat ride.
  • All campers wear Coast Guard–approved life jackets on the water.
  • Staff are CPR and First Aid certified.
  • The island has designated activity zones for fishing, fire, and exploration.

Parents love that it’s a drop-off and pick-up day camp, making it simple, local, and stress-free.

🌟 The Grand Finale: The River Challenge

On the final day, campers come together for a fun, friendly River Challenge — a mix of casting accuracy, knot relays, wilderness tasks, wildlife ID, and fishing points. Every camper shines, and everyone goes home with a sense of accomplishment.

🧭 Why This Camp Is Different

This is not a pond or park program. It's a true river adventure built to help kids:

  • grow their confidence,
  • build resilience,
  • work as a team,
  • develop real outdoor skills,
  • and reconnect with nature in a meaningful way.

And with just 15 campers total, every child gets personal attention and guidance.
